The Delhi Transport Department has issued a public notice to these ride sharing companies to ban bike taxi services with immediate effect.
Rules were being violated by Ola, Uber and Rapido
It has come to the fore that Ola, Uber and Rapido, which were providing bike taxi service, have violated the transport rules, so it has been decided by the city transport department to stop the service.
In the notice, the transport department said,
“It has been brought to the notice that two-wheelers bearing non-transport (private) registration marks/numbers are being used on hire for carrying passengers which is a purely commercial operation and There is a violation of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.”
License can also be canceled
The notice sent by the Transport Department clearly mentions that if Ola, Uber and Rapido riders continue to provide bike taxi service in Delhi, they will be fined Rs 5,000. Even after this, if you do this for the second time, you can be fined Rs 10,000 and imprisonment.
Also, according to the official notice sent to the ride sharing companies, the driving license of the driver will also be suspended for a minimum period of three years. Will be suspended for.
Fines for Ola, Uber and Rapido will be much higher. The notice states that these digital platforms that are providing bike taxi rides to users will be fined Rs 1 lakh under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, if they facilitate the operation.
The move to ban the bike taxi service comes just weeks after the Supreme Court banned Rapido services in Maharashtra and refused to grant relief to the bike, taxi and auto service provider as the company reportedly was not legal in the state. Was working without license.
