Singapore Vault Becomes Finalist at World Architecture Festival 2024

Singapore, July 10, 2024—The Reserve, a wealth protection facility in Singapore developed by precious metals provider Silver Bullion, has been named a finalist in the prestigious World Architecture Festival (WAF) 2024.

The WAF is the world’s largest live-judged architecture awards event, and its recognition places The Reserve among the leading architectural projects worldwide. Shortlisted in the “Future Project: Commercial Mixed Use” category, The Reserve is one of 15 finalists and the only one from Singapore. The Reserve will now compete live at WAF from November 6-8, 2024.

Designed by MonoLab Studio, The Reserve is a state-of-the-art facility offering secure storage for alternative assets such as precious metals, art, and luxury timepieces. It boasts one of the world’s largest vault capacities with 15 UL-rated Class II gold vaults, 12,500 safe deposit boxes, and space for up to 15,500 metric tons of assets.

When officially launched in Q4 2024, The Reserve will be a one-stop alternative asset center, having highly secured vaults, auction and luxury event spaces, and wealth management offices under one roof.

The Reserve already stores over $1 billion worth of assets for its clients and through its tenants, The Safe House and The Xcess.

Gregor Gregersen, Founder of Silver Bullion, said, “We are delighted that The Reserve has been selected as a finalist at the World Architecture Festival. It was our vision to develop The Reserve to be a premier international alternative asset center and also an iconic example of sustainable development in Singapore.”

Wesley Liew, Co-founder of MonoLab Studio, said, “The Reserve is a glistening modern monolith that alludes to the robustness of precious commodities and the transparency inherent in the distributed financial technologies of the future. Conceived as a series of dualities to intrigue; the onyx stone fortress exudes luminescent luxury inside and out through a deft use of light.”

The Reserve’s choice to repurpose an existing logistics facility instead of building anew was a significant step towards sustainability and avoiding emissions associated with new construction.

Solar panels on the rooftop, along with batteries, generate electricity for operational needs and illuminate the facade, reducing dependence on Singapore’s natural gas-powered grid. This use of renewable energy enhances the facility’s environmental credentials and energy independence.

Further, the facility’s robust onyx facade acts as a secondary insulating layer, providing sunshade, reducing cooling demands, and mitigating noise. The design incorporates glass infused with stone, creating a golden hue when sunlight filters through. At night, energy-efficient LED lights emit a gentle golden glow, using only a fraction of the solar energy generated.

These upgrades ensure that The Reserve meets and surpasses Singapore’s regulatory and sustainability standards, aiming for Green Mark certification while standing as an example of architectural innovation and environmental stewardship.
